Ben Brown

Ben was born and raised in Rochester, New York. Growing up he showed a proclivity for the arts quite early. When he was three years old he rented a copy of the 1933 King Kong film from his local library, and from then on he was captivated by film. At age six he was put into a private high school art class, and at age eight he wrote and self-published a sixty-page chapter book. He would later on win a scholarship to the Ithaca College Roy H. Park School of Communication and graduate in 2023 with a Bachelor's degree in Cinema.

Ben used his time at Ithaca to develop and sharpen his art and filmmaking knowledge and skills. He would soon take what he learned from studying film history in and outside of class and apply it to a handful of student film projects he wrote and directed. During the COVID lockdown he continued to build his repertoire by shooting two short films, and spent his time studying literature and film of all cultures and time periods. Post-COVID, he returned to school to work as a DP for Ithaca College Television's (ICTV) miniseries A Piece of Art, and before long was promoted to direct one of the six episodes. From this point he made a number of very valuable connections with likeminded ambitious students who he still works avidly with today.

Ben triumphantly wrote, co-produced and directed an award-winning 40-minute-long thesis film before flying off to Los Angeles for his final semester in the Spring of 2023 where he simultaneously worked two internships: one as a reporter for the Hollywood Insider and one as a production assistant at fALLOUT Entertainment, working pre-production for a big budget feature film.

In the fall of 2023, Ben embarked on his first feature film, which he wrote, produced, shot and directed, and which as of March 2024 is in the depths of post production.

When he is not feverishly working, Ben enjoys traveling and exploring the world, and getting a taste of all that life has to offer. He spends much of his time reading, watching films, visiting museums, coffee shops, revival theaters, or walking through cities, parks, boardwalks and beaches listening to music.

Currently Ben is open to work as a freelance filmmaker located in Los Angeles, California.
